Garden History

The King’s Court Community Garden (KCCG) was established in 1997 to give Capitol Hill residents an opportunity to grow their own food and provide an outlet for those interested in gardening without the ability to do so at their residences.

At the time it was one of only two community gardens on Capitol Hill — though there are now more than ten. As of 2022, there are 32 single plot gardeners and 6 double plot gardeners. As of 2024, 13 DC residents are on the waiting list.
